About
Two people, one spreadsheet, no sponsors.
Deneb Reviews is Mara Iversen and Tomas Alvi. We started in 2021 after losing 400 on a course that promised a shop running by the weekend.
How we test
Mara runs the side hustle and additional income tests. Tomas handles small business builds and startup reviews. We both keep the same log: hours worked, money spent, money received, and anything that went wrong.
A test runs 30 days minimum. If a platform changes its fees mid test we start again. Screenshots of payouts go in the review so you can check our maths.
How we pay for it
Readers support us directly, and we run one small ad slot in the monthly email. Nobody being reviewed pays us, and we do not use affiliate links in reviews.
Founders who send in a startup review get no say in the score. If a company asks us to soften a report, that request goes in the report.
When we get it wrong
Corrections go at the top of the review with the date. Three reviews have been rescored since 2021 and all three still show the old number.
Where we work
Online only, from Rotterdam and Tallinn. Tests are run in euros, so numbers may look different where you are.
